Nursery Rhyme Pocket Park

Description:
The theme for this little pocket Park was nursery rhyme animals. The site is next to social housing.

The artists designed railings and a gate using a variety of animals as incidents set into regular railings painted dark green. Two green bronze geese provide a low seat/climbing structure for toddlers whilst the oak moon seat decorated with the smiling dog, jumping cow, cat and the fiddle provides further seating for adults as well as children.

It is planned for the site to be landscaped.

Nursery Rhyme Pocket Park - Man on the moonProduction Method:
The design for the railings were drawn to scale and photocopied at Service Point, Cheltenham to full size for the fabricators to work directly from. Acorn Fabrications profile cut the designs from sheet steel, fabricated and installed all the railings and gate.

The geese were made in direct plaster by Diane and cast into bronze by Castle Fine Art Foundry. The oak section came from R.D. Rose and Sons, round timber merchants. Phil carved the seat by roughing out with a chainsaw and finished by hand using a mallet and gouges.

The sculptures were shifted and installed by specialist Damon Bramley and Phil. Phil also designed the hard surfacing of the site.
