Description:
Fabricated stainless steel curved elements, 4 metres high, containing a cast
glass sphere bearing palm prints.
The whole structure is supported on an angled sawn Portland
stone block, 70mm X 70mm selection.
This block features on two sides a letter cut inscription
detailing the chemical equation for the production of chlorine by the
electrolysis of brine. |

Production Method:
Stainless steel element fabricated by Payne Engineering Company, working
closely with Philip Bews in accordance with his drawing and scale maquette
of the sculpture.
The glass element, originally made from parts cast in
plaster and transferred and assembled in wax by Diane Gorvin with help from
Chris Butler of Castle Fine Arts Foundry. The final cast glass version was
produced by Colin Reid Glass.
The Portland stone base, sawn and transported from Bath and
Portland Stone Limited, Dorset, was letter cut by Philip Bews. |
